Guidelines for installing mineral glasswool pipe lags
Required tools and materials:
1. Mineral glasswool pipe lags URSA® RS 1
2. Mineral glasswool pipe lags URSA® RS 1/ALU
Step 1
The URSA® RS 1 and RS 1/ALU pipe lags are cut lengthwise by design to allow easy fitting.
Step 2
To lag a pipe, open the lag carefully along the cut and slide it over the pipe. After the lag is put on, press the cut edges against each other to avoid thermal bridges.
Step 3
The URSA® RS 1/ALU lags laminated with reinforced aluminium have a self-adhesive lap that is used to prevent the cut from opening.
Step 4
The cut in the non-laminated URSA® RS 1 lags should be tied with soft binding wire, every 25–50cm.
Step 5
Each successive length of the lag is applied in the same way and pressed tightly against the preceding one to eliminate any gaps, and the cuts are protected as described above.
Step 6
To meet more advanced mechanical requirements, use casing made of prefabricated aluminium or steel elements.
Installation of mineral glasswool lamella mat URSA® LM 2
Required tools and materials:
Mineral glasswool lamella mat URSA® LM 2
The glass fibres of the URSA® LM2 lamella mat run perpendicular to the insulated surface. They are glued to the supporting external layer, i.e. aluminium foil. Such a structure allows much greater pressure than horizontal fibres. The mat can be rolled, and the squeezing inside does not result in deforming (folding) the external surfaces. As a result, the insulation adheres tightly to irregular surfaces, creates an evenly thick layer and eliminates convection channels (that could form if the internal surface were folded).
The external supporting layer, i.e. aluminium foil, withstands significant mechanical pressure and vapour diffusion.
