Guidelines for installing URSA® SECO 1000 S, 3000 S, 4000 S roof membranes
Required tools and materials:
1. Roof membranes URSA® SECO 1000 S
2. Roof membranes URSA® SECO 3000 S
3. Roof membranes URSA® SECO 4000 S
4. Semi membrane URSA® ® SECO NPP
5. Insulation foils URSA® SECO 150
6. Insulation foils URSA® SECO 200
7. Insulation foils URSA® SECO 200S
Guidelines for installing URSA® SECO 1000 S, 3000 S, 4000 S roof membranes:
Step 1
URSA® SECO roof membranes are generally fitted from the bottom of the roof upwards, with the first strip along the eaves. The lower edge ends on the eaves flashing. When installing membranes from the top of the roof, it is easier to move around; however, make sure to fold the lower foil edge, so that the upper strip overlaps the lower strip with necessary allowance.
Step 2
URSA® SECO layers should be fitted with some stress, with the company signage (on the grey side) facing outside.
Step 3
For typical roof pitches (> 10°), the adjacent membranes should overlap by 10cm. For smaller pitches, the overlap should be increased to 15 cm, and the membrane sheets should be stuck together with the double sided adhesive tape URSA® TOP-DK.
Step 4
The first stage of URSA® SECO membrane fitting involves stapling the foil to the outer side of the rafters. Membranes are finally fastened with counterbattens along the rafters.
Step 5
URSA® SECO roof membranes must not remain uncovered with roofing for longer periods in order to avoid UV related structural changes in the material after 4 months.
Step 6
To repair damaged URSA® SECO membranes, attach a patch of an original membrane with double-sided adhesive tape or special adhesives.
Step 7
For openings in roof slopes (chimneys, skylights), cut out trapezium holes with the longer parallel side at the bottom of the opening, and seal the membrane joints with the other roofing elements thoroughly.
Guidelines for installing URSA® SECO 150, 200, 200 S insulation foils:
URSA® SECO 150 (200) insulation foils are fitted in lofts using metal staples (for rafters and timber battens) and the URSA® TOP-DK double sided adhesive tape (for metal sections). The vapour barrier layer is fitted in strips from top to bottom, with edges between adjacent strips that overlap by 10cm. For pitched roof thermal insulation, the insulation foil must always be fitted directly under the roofing.
When installing pitched roof thermal insulation with URSA® mineral wool, ensure that it is properly sealed from humid air permeating from the interior. In extreme cases, outdropping and frost penetration can occur in the thermal insulation area of the loft. To prevent that, apply the URSA® TOP U caulking tape to the joints of the foil with the rafter plate, gable wall etc., and fasten it with a retaining batten.
