Guidelines for thermal insulating basement walls with URSA® HYDRO polystyrene panels.
Required tools and materials:
1. Expanded polystyrene panels URSA® HYDRO
2. Extruded polystyrene panels URSA® XPS N-III-I
Step 1
Before installation of URSA® HYDRO panels, vertical hydroinsulation must be properly done, best with the use of bituminous compositions. It is very important that they do not contain organic solvents, because they are destructive to polystyrene foam.
Step 2
Fix URSA® HYDRO on “a cake” of bituminous adhesive.
Step 3
In drainageless thermoinsulation system, URSA® HYDRO panels can be covered with soil.
Step 4
In a solution with perimetric drainage laid by the foundation continuos footing, a filtering layer of soil stabilising cloth should be fixed with adhesive. Neighbouring sheets should overlap by 10-15 cm. Directly upon the perimetric drainage a layer of permeable soil should be laid, best of fine stone or coarse sand.
Step 5
URSA® HYDRO panels can protrude above the soil level as thermal insulation of the foundation, and join with thermal insulation of the outer wall.
